‘Bring your own device’ program
In the last couple of years, Renmark High School has made significant upgrades to our IT infrastructure, which now allows students to bring their own laptop devices to school and access our high-speed filtered internet. While students do not have to bring a laptop device to school, many who do find they are more productive in class and more easily transition their work between school and home.
Deciding on a laptop device for your child can be a daunting task. We have attempted to simplify the process by doing a lot of the research for you. Through partnering with Edunet, we have created a purchasing portal where we have made recommendations for different levels of power and cost including both Windows and Apple devices. Through a volume purchasing agreement we are also able to provide these cheaper than through retail stores.
All students are required to use a device at school to support their learning. To assist with costs to families Renmark High School will offer the first 50 students to request a coupon code a $150 discount. Families with students going into year 7 in 2025 are eligible. You can request a coupon from dl.0794.finance@schools.sa.edu.au.
Students who do not have a device will be able to borrow one daily. Students are issued a locker for the security of laptop devices and personal belongings.
If you are getting a computer from elsewhere, please keep in mind the following suggestions:
- Screen size, 11 inch or larger.
- Battery life, needs to last the whole 6-hour school day.
- Keyboard, if writing for any length of time.
- Lightweight, generally under 1.6 kg is better.
- Insurance, is it covered for accidental damage or loss?
- Warranty, is it covered by warranty for repairs?
If you would like more help deciding which computer will work for your child, please feel free to contact us and we’ll talk you through the options.
